Hello Blog World,
Today, we are going to go through the process of making rock art. My mom and I made rocks with veggies painted on them for our vegetable and fruit garden.
We began by collecting the perfect rocks. You want to find rocks that look like they were tumbled in a rock tumbler or through the nature process of rocks eroding from water and other small rocks hitting against them. For example, river rocks are perfect because they are smooth, easy to paint on, clean, and you can find a variety of sizes. You want to find rocks they are about 3-5 inches (or 7.62 cm to 12.7 cm). If the rocks are dirty you will need to wash them well and make sure they are perfectly dry before you begin.
Next you need to make sure you have some paint brushes and acrylic or craft paint. Try to use bright colors to mimic your produce, but way before you paint your vegetables you need to paint your background on the rock. Choose a solid color for the background. To decide on the background think about the color of your vegetable or fruit. You want to use colors based on the colors that are complimentary so if it's a dark veggie use a light back ground color or if it's a light colored veggie use a dark background. For example, if you are painting a bright red tomato you need a light back ground so the tomato color can pop!
If you want to make these fun rock arts, comment and tell us some of the veggies you will grow?
Thank you Debbie.
That looks like a fun thing to do. I am going to suggest it to my niece who is finding things for her boys to do during the school closure. They live in Vermont so I’m not sure the snow is off the garden yet. But they have been sugaring. You are going to have a big garden this year with lots of colorful markers and lots of healthy vegetables.
Wayne said it was a good idea to use river rocks since they are nice and smooth. You made the rocks so beautiful!
