Hello Blog World,
What is a drone? A drone is an unmanned aerial system. There is no person inside flying the drone. The pilot is using a RC Transmitter to control the drone. When you send a command from the Transmitter to the drone the RC receiver sends a signal to the autopilot, for example if you ARM the drone the motors will start spinning because the autopilot communicates with the Electronic Speed Controllers also known as ESCs.
I enjoy teaching my friends how to fly a drone. Today I will teach you the first mission I teach my friends.
Mission 1: ARM & DISARM the Drone
When you ARM your drone your motors will start spinning and you are ready to take off. When you DISARM your drone the motors stop spinning and you are now ready to power your drone off.
How to ARM & DISARM your drone
To ARM your drone move the Left Lever also known as the Throttle-stick down, to the right and hold for 3 seconds or until you see the motors begin to spin. Then bring the throttle-stick back to neutral position.
To DISARM your drone move the Throttle-stick down, to the left and hold for 3 seconds or until the motors stop spinning.
Lessons Learned
Practice makes habit and habit make perfect. I learned it's better to practice by imagining you are flying your drone so your fingers and your mind can programmed to fly really well.
When you know what mission you are flying it helps you not crash.
When I first flew my drone my dad was on ground station monitoring my flight on the computer and my mom was standing next to me so she could take control if anything got out of hand. Knowing that their were two people protecting my drone flight, I was confident. I began my Mission to fly into the air, the drone fluttered up with it's motors spinning faster and faster. The drone up in the air looked like a tiny bird under my control. This bird did exactly as I told it. When I didn't send any command it held it's position.
After a few minutes, the drone slowly began it's decent, my dad told me how many meters above the ground I was. When I finally landed my drone, I landed with great pride!
I DISARMED the drone and the motors stopped moving. It looked like the drone was a frozen statue in time.
