Hello Blog World,
On April 30, 2020 at 3 am my mom woke me in excitement! She said Mimi my cat was having babies. At first, I didn't believe my ears, but then she said, "come look." From under my mom and dad's bed I heard whining that sounded like "meu, meu, meu" but very squeaky and very different from Mimi's meow.
When I looked under the bed, I saw something that was black squirming and wet. It looked like a tiny alien with ears on the side of its head. Then I saw Mimi licking it clean and another squeaking kitten hiding behind mother cat.
Here's a video you can watch of Mimi giving birth to the kittens:
My mom ran to my room and grabbed Mimi's pink small bed that Mimi had when she came to our house as a new born. She was a stray that someone found and couldn't keep. Our friend Jackie thought we would be the perfect family to take in a stray black Bombay cat, who we immediately fell in love with and named Mimi.
When my mom put the bed down under the bed, Mimi waddled to the bed and my mom helped put 3 little whiny black kittens in the bed.
By 4:30 am Mimi had 4 little kittens. We thought she was done having kittens so my mom, dad, and I got in bed to sleep, but I couldn't sleep thinking about those cute little kittens. So, I got out of bed and sat next to Mimi and the 4 kittens for a while. When I got bored of just sitting there, I grabbed a book called, 'Everafter High Next Top Villian' and started reading aloud to the cat and kittens.
When I got to chapter 4 maybe around 6 am Mimi made a meow as if she was in pain and something started coming out from her behind her in a tiny sac with and umbility (umbilical) cord. It looked really strange and I said, "Mom, Mimi's having another kitten!"
My mom was surprised and happy. Mimi had to eat the sac and umbility cord. When she was eating the umbility cord it looked like a long soggy piece of chicken. I was thinking, "That's gross." But then my mom told me that in the wild animals can't leave the babies so the sac and umbilical cord the mother's eat provides nutrients and nourishment for the mom. Plus the sac keeps the baby safe in the mother's body.
At 8 am, I Facetimed my friend Edward to show the babies and to our surprise Mimi began to have another baby! When I started my online class at 9 am, Mimi gave birth to the last kitten who was #7. We love all the kittens.
Every Friday at 2 pm, I host a kitten growth party. If you want to join the online party, just let me know in the comments so I can share the link with you.
